The Horsefield Tortoise, also known as the Russian tortoise, originates from Central Asia and can be found natively in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, India, Iran. They are natively of the harsh desert regions and adapted to handle extreme heat and extreme cold. These guys also hibernate in winter from October to March and bury themselves in summer to withstand the sun. Horsfield's can also live as long as 60 years, sometimes longer. Did you know these guys are herbivores? Their diet consists of leafy greens, flowers and weeds, they cannot digest meat but that doesn't mean they won't try!!
